Heart of Kent Hospice provides free, specialist care and support for adults living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.
Shaun the Sheep in the Heart of Kent is a free art trail run by the Heart of Kent hospice to raise support and awareness in the local community. The trail will feature 50 large individually decorated Shaun the Sheep sculptures that will appear around the parks, town centre and river walks in the Maidstone area of Kent.
Each sculpture has been designed and painted by local and national artists, and they’ll be accompanied by a flock of little Shauns decorated by local schools and community groups.
Kent Reliance has sponsored the creation of one of the large sculptures, ‘Hope in the dark’, with a Kent Reliance employee and local designer responsible for its design and creation.

As part of our long-standing partnership with Demelza children’s hospice, Kent Reliance has paid for the creation of one of the smaller Shaun sculptures.
Called ‘Dotty’, this sheep will appear in our Maidstone Kent Reliance branch and has been decorated by the children at Demelza. The sculpture will be donated back to Demelza at the end of the trail.
A second mini sheep will be appearing alongside ‘Dotty’ in the branch - ‘25 years of Pennies’, which has been created by children at Pennies Day Nursery. As we celebrate 25 years of ISAs, Pennies is also celebrating its 25th birthday, so this felt like a great way to tie in with other areas of our community.
Why not come into our Maidstone branch to meet our mini flock and find out more about the trail and our Demelza children’s account at the same time?
Like much of the country, we’ve been gripped by football fever for the past three months. And while our summer of sport may not have resulted in any silverware, we’re certain next year could bring success with England’s Lionesses qualifying for the Euro 2025 Championship.
